Jim enjoyed a 38-year newspaper career at the Ottawa Journal, Edmonton Journal, and Ottawa Citizen, concluding as Publisher of the Ottawa Citizen. Under his leadership, the newspaper earned numerous awards for journalistic excellence from the National Newspaper Association and the Canadian Association of Journalists. President and CEO of the University of Ottawa Heart Institute Foundation (2011-2020). Under his direction, the largest fundraising campaign in the Heart Institute’s history was successfully completed in 2020, raising $100 million over seven years. Jim holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Ottawa. Over the past 45 years he has served on more than 40 nonprofit boards and fundraising committees, spanning sectors such as education, business, sports, healthcare, the arts, and social services.
